Colin Kaepernick (b) 3rd Nov, 1987

American civil rights activist and former NFL quarterback.

He is one of the most talented humans to play in the NCAA and NFL professioanl (American) football leagues, easily making records no one else could beat.

He is also black.

In 2016, while the national anthem was being played at the start of an NFL game, Colin sat through the rendition, rather than stand as is a customary sign of respect for the flag.
This was a protest against racial injustice often perpetuated, sadly by uniformed officers.

Following this protest, Colin Kaepernick knelt during the playing of the American national anthem on several occassions in further protest.

It is not hard to see why a black man with a platform would choose to protest against racial injustice... especially a black American man.

George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Trayvon Martin, Emmett Till... that's just a few names... it really is an endless list.
List of victims of insane and unequivocal hatred.

People who lost their lives simply because of the colour of their skin.

Well....
a lot of people didn't like that Colin exercised his human rights to protest and free speech, including the then 45th president of the United States of America - Donald T***p who called Colin
"That Son of a B*tch"
and called for him to be fired!

Colin wasn't fired, but…

At the end of the season in 2017, he became a free agent, his contract was allowed to lapse, and no team would sign him.
No team would play the only man ever in college footbal history to amass 10,000 passing yards and 4,000 rushing yards...

...because he spoke his mind... because he crossed a line... because he chose to be free!

Colin sued in 2019. There was an undisclosed settlement with the NFL.

And then, in 2020 "George Floyd" happened... companies couldn't afford to be silent.
There was actually public 'pseudo-apologies' to Colin Kaepernick... in hindsight!

Too little. Too late. Saving face.

The struggle continues...x
